Oli Cole is our Wrestling Coach who was wrestling for Wales and GBR from 2014 – 2018. Wrestling is Oli’s real passion although he just loves to train: strength work, conditioning (of course) and in other combat sports.
The music I listen to when I’m training varies depending on the purpose of the training session. For example when I’m road running, I use the beat to help me set a pace and stick to a pace – contacting the ground on the beat.
Watt bike sessions are my favourite time to practice visualisation; the feeling of the resistance on the pedals and classical music help me get into a hypnotic state. It allows me to focus on my goals.
My favourite meal is an Iranian dish called Khoresh Bademjan it’s what I imagine heaven to taste like.
The feeling we know as butterflies are your body’s way of telling you that you are ready to compete. Butterflies to me mean that my body is supercharged with Adrenalin, my senses are heightened and I have a strong will to win. I remind myself of this and the unpleasant feeling becomes very comforting.
It’s all a matter of perspective.
